Maori rugby team to tour England

WELLINGTON: The New Zealand Maori rugby team will play Canada, club champion Leicester and an England selection on a three-match tour to Britain in November.

The Maori team, which has beaten England, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions in recent years, will begin its tour with a match against nine-time England champions Leicester on November 13.

The team, coached by former All Black Jamie Joseph, will play a Rugby Football Union Championship XV, composed of England-eligible players, on November 17 and Canada at Oxford University on November 23.

New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive Steve Tew said "the Maori All Blacks have been an important part of New Zealand's rugby history and this UK tour reflects a NZRU commitment to a meaningful program for the Maori All Blacks."
