NAHLA Al Sinni snatched the Second Women Billiards Championship, which concluded at the Golden Triangle Gym near the Exhibition Road.

In the final match, Nahla put on a flawless show to outplay her main rival Mai Al Dossary 6-1 and secure her second successive title, having won the National Day Championship in January.

British entrant Shan rounded off the podium by winning third place award, defeating Bahraini Fatima Rajab 4-0 in the consolation match.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Nahla lived up to expectations with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Fatima Rajab after a one-sided encounter.

Mai followed suit, beating Shan 5-1 in another easy game for the former, who has now set up her final clash with Nahla.

Following the final, the prize-distribution ceremony took place at the same venue.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Bahrain Billiard and Snooker Federation president Shaikh Abdulla bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, who honoured the top four players.

He also gave away cash prizes on this occasion, including the top money award of BD400 to champion Nahla, runner up Mai received BD200, Shan collected BD100.

And additional BD50 prize was presented to Chris who was the youngest player in the tournament.

The tournament, organised by the federation and sponsored by Bapco, got underway with 10 players of Bahrain's rising billiards players taking part.

Participants were drawn into two groups of five players. Group 'A' consisted of Nahla, Rima Karraja, Jamila and Yasmine, while Group 'B' featured Mai Al Dossary, Maryam Mirza, Chrissie, Fatima Rajab and Shan.

This was the second women's billiards event of the year, with the first being the National Day Championship in January, which underlined the federation's keenness to develop the game and attract as many billiards fans among women.
