Ahmed claims under-14 title

AHMED Mohammed won the under-14 title in the First Bahrain Tennis Federation Ramadan Tennis Tournament, which concluded at the federation courts in Isa Town.

Mohammed topped his age group after beating Rayan Al Fulaij in the final. In other categories, Mahiya Malalla won the under-8 title, followed by Bader Buchriri, while Ali Dawani beat Yousef Dhaif to clinch the under-12 section.

In the doubles, Ahmed Mohammed and Rayan Al Fulaij were crowned champions, while Hamad Essam Abdula'al and Yousef Dhaif finishing second.

More than 35 youngsters competed in this first-ever tennis championship held during the month of Ramadan.

The final day of action was followed by the prize-presentation ceremony, which was patronised by BTF members Mohammed Sanad and Fuad Al Ruwaie, who honoured the finalists in each age category.

Sanad said the first edition of this annual event aimed to develop the levels of those young players and boost their physical fitness.

Sanad extended his appreciation to BTF president Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continued support to the federation's programmes and all tennis players, and expressed keenness to see this tournament continue on annual basis.
