ANWAR Makki qualified for the second round in the Late Iyad Hamza Table Tennis Championship, which got underway at the Bahrain Table Tennis Association courts in Riffa.
The national team star topped Group 'B' with a 100 per cent win record to book his berth in the next round along with second-placed Ali Abdulrasool.
A total of 80 players are taking part, including Kuwaiti national team members Khalid Al Otaibi and Bassil Al Ansari. They were divided into senior and junior categories. The seniors were drawn into eight groups, while the juniors' contest featured 10 groups.
In the seniors' event, Khalid Al Otaibi and Yasine Mirza made it into the second round from Group 'A', Mohammed Khalid and Yousef Al Bulflasa from Group 'C', while Loay Jamala and Hussain Al Hashmi made it from Group 'D'.
Mohammed Abbas and Fahad Khalid qualified from Group 'E', Ali Radi and Bassil Al Ansari from Group 'F', Hassan Abdulrahim and Hassan Makki from Group 'G' while Mohammed Bushlaibi and Mujahed Mohammed progressed from Group 'H'.
In the junior section, only the winners in their respective groups qualified. They were Kaltham Elyasi, Amir Al Haiki, Elyas Elyasi, Saud Al Qassmi, Murtada Hussain, Hassan Al Haiki, Mohammed Qamber, Ali Mahmood, Nadine Adel and Rashid Al Haiki.
