MANAMA: Bahrain is set to host a major petrochemicals conference in September.
Petchem Arabia 2012, which is part of the Middle East Chemical Week, will feature ministerial and executive-level speakers from national and international oil companies, with the support of key ministries and associations.
The seventh edition of the conference will be held under the joint patronage of Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Iraqi Industry and Minerals Deputy Minister Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Al Ani.
The event, being organised by the World Refining Association, will be held from September 30 to October 2. The conference will feature presentations, case studies, panel discussions and roundtables.
Bahrain's National Oil and Gas Authority adviser Larry Jaeger will be one of the main speakers. The event will conclude with industrial visits for all delegates to Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Bapco facilities.
The visits are supposed to highlight the development and planning for future growth at Bahrain's petrochemical companies. They will include interactive sessions with leading local experts. The global industry outlook, the impact of shale gas advances in the GCC and joint ventures are some of the key topics at the conference.
