MANAMA: A leading member of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has resigned.
Sources said chief executive Ebrahim Langawi would step down at the end of the month. It is understood BCCI board member and MP Othman Sharif will temporarily take over the role from August 1, until a new chief executive is appointed.
Sources said Mr Langawi had put forward a list of demands to the board, which were rejected during its last meeting and led to his resignation. They told the GDN he was asked to continue in the role until the end of his term next year, but he declined. Mr Langawi could not be reached for comment last night.
