INTERIOR Ministry 'A' and Cue-In 'B' completed the semi-finals cast at the Clubs and Companies Eight-Ball Billiards Championship, being held at the Golden Triangle Gym near Exhibition Road.
In two deciding group stages matches, the Interior Ministry 'A' team outplayed East Riffa 3-0, while Cue-In 'B' posted a similar 3-0 victory against Bapco to punch the remaining two tickets into the competition's final four.
Saleh Ahmed defeated Mohammed Hassan 9-6 to give Interior Ministry 'A' the lead against East Riffa.
Interior Ministry's Raed Ahmed and Ali Hassan were also in top form, recording respective wins over Ahmed Mahmood (9-3) and Omar Abdulrahman (9-8).
The last game in the first round saw Cue-In 'B' ease past Bapco in straight games, thanks to respective wins for Abdulla Isa, Ali Kabat and Ali Abdulkarim against Hussain Al Mawlani (9-8), Mohammed Janahi (9-2) and Aref Al Kooheji (9-3).
Cue-In 'A' and Bahrain Billiards Centre earlier made it into the semi-finals. Cue-In 'A' battled past Interior Ministry 'C' 2-1, while Bahrain Billiards Centre captured a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Interior Ministry 'B'.
In the semi-finals, Interior Ministry 'A' will take on Bahrain Billiards Centre, while Cue-In 'A' face off with Cue-In 'B'. The final is scheduled for tonight, to be followed by the prize-distribution ceremony.
The tournament features 12 teams representing sports clubs, ministries and companies. They were divided into two groups of six teams each.
Group 'A' comprised Banagas 'C', Interior Ministry 'B', East Riffa Club, Talent Gym, Cue-In 'B' and Bapco, while Banagas 'B', Interior Ministry 'A', Bahrain Billiards Centre, Cue-In 'A', Banagas 'A' and Interior Ministry 'C' were placed in Group 'B'.
The tournament is organised by the Bahrain Billiards and Snooker Federation and is sponsored by Chevron.
Valuable cash awards have been allocated for the winners. The overall champions will receive BD500, while the runners-up get BD250 and the third-placed team BD150.
