NEW DELHI: India have named Yuvraj Singh in a preliminary squad of 30 for the upcoming World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka, within months of the all-rounder being treated for a rare form of cancer.
Singh, who underwent chemotherapy in the US in March this year for a germ cell cancer near his lungs, last played for India in a home Test series against the West Indies in November.
Singh, who has played 37 Tests, 274 one-day internationals and 23 Twenty20 games for India, was the player of the tournament in last year's one-day World Cup.
Among others named in the preliminary list are off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and pace bowler Munaf Patel.
The World Twenty20 will be held from September 18 to October 7.
