A slight agony and fright goes through mind when I read letters in the GDN regarding acquiring a driving licence.
First of all, I think the traffic authorities should look into the matter and change the way the system works here - starting with fee reduction, proper scheduling and allotting reliable instructors and monitoring them.
People should also be taught to drive cars with automatic transmissions, since there are hardly any manual vehicles on the roads nowadays.
Or why not allow them to choose between the two? This would save time and precious dinars.
I have spent several years in the UAE where driving instruction is highly professional and modern.
It's time for a change and I ask authorities to look into this matter to avoid inconvenience and the terror of learning to drive.
