Photographer threatened

ELECTION officials were forced to intervene after a voter threatened an Information Affairs Authority photographer.

The Bahraini, covering the by-election in Hidd, was clicking pictures of people casting their ballots at the Al Hidd Girls Intermediate Secondary School when the drama happened.

A female voter objected to her photograph being taken and the photographer apologised and deleted the snap from his camera.

But things heated up when a male voter, claiming to be one of the woman's relatives, got into a war of words with the photographer and threatened him.

It happened in the presence of election officials, who were forced to spring into action to pacify the man, who was then asked to leave.

The incident was noted by Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society officials present at the polling station monitoring the election.
