YOUNG Star, IM Basssali, Behbehani Brothers and Combined CC remain in contention for the Bahrain Cricket League (BCL) Audi Premier League T-25 title after successfully coming through their respective quarter-finals.
The semi-finals will be played out at Busaiteen this coming Friday, with Bassali up against Young Star and Behbehani taking on arch rivals Combined CC.
It was a pair of power-packed performances from Mohammed Asif (three wickets for five runs) and Danish Ali (two for 17) with ball in hand that set Young Star on their way to a convincing win over Pak Lions in their quarter-final clash.
Ziauddin's 37 and Ateeq Rehman's 29 put some respectability on the Lions' score but their 140-run total was easily matched by the rampaging Stars, for whom Mohamed Asif smashed an unbeaten 94.
Heavyweights IM Bassali didn't have things quite so easy and they struggled to 143 all out in the heat of their last eight clash with Global Metals.
Mohamed Rizwan (4 for 11) and Lloyd Cutinha (4 for 30) were on fire for the underdogs and once again it was left to the tournament's leading scorer Atiqur Rehman to rescue his side with a flamboyant 68 and give Bassali a fighting chance.
