BATELCO sent league champions Alba crashing out of the Industrial Bowling Knock-out Championship, being held at Bapco Club premises in Awali.
A 266-point victory boosted Batelco's title chances as they reached the competition's last four, and ended Alba's bid to finish the season with a league-cup double.
Scoring a total of 2,566 points, Batelco dominated most of the proceedings against one of the competition's favourites for a comfortable win.
National team star Fawaz Abdulla was inspirational for Batelco with a 247 high game, while teammate Ahmed Al Nuaimi contributed with the week's high series of 673.
Alba managed a 2,360 total. Their top scorer was Abdulhameed Taqi, who could score 216 high game as well as the team's high series of 633.
In a closely-contested game, Tatweer bowed out losing to GPIC by a 60-point margin.
Tatweer's guest bowler Shaker Darraj was the hero for his team, scoring a 224 high game besides a high series of 628.
Mohammed Al Shawoosh emerged as the best player for GPIC with 275 and 667 high game and series, respectively.
In another quarter-final match, Bapco were granted a berth in the semi-finals after receiving a walkover from Um Al Hassam, who failed to turn up for the game.
The semi-finals are scheduled for today when GPIC take on the Pioneers team, with the winner to reach the final against the winner of the other game between Batelco and Bapco.
