A BAHRAIN court has postponed issuing a verdict in the case of sacked opposition municipal councillors.
Five Al Wefaq National Islamic Society councillors were voted off for their alleged involvement in last year's unrest.
They include Central Municipal Council vice-chairman Adel Al Sitri and members Hussain Al Oraibi, Abdulredha Zuhair, Sadiq Rabea'a and Muharraq municipal councillor Dr Mohammed Abbas.
All five lodged appeals against the decisions and the case has been at the High Civil Appeals Court since may last year.
The verdict was due to be issued yesterday, but the court postponed in to June 25.
Al Wefaq's councillors came under fire for showing up at the UN House in Manama, last March with a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon seeking international intervention in Bahrain.
They also took part in an illegal demonstration at the Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry complex.
No action has been taken against Al Wefaq's 13 other councillors, who serve on the Northern and Manama municipal councils.
