SPACE technology, activities and programmes were discussed during an interactive session held at the Indian Club, Manama, yesterday.
More than 300 people attended the event where Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) former chairman and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan award Dr G Madhavan Nair spoke about benefits of space technology, that is related to entering, and retrieving objects or life forms from space.
During his tenure as ISRO chairman, Dr Nair accomplished 25 successful missions and also took initiatives towards development of futuristic technologies to enhance the space systems capabilities as well as to reduce the cost of access to space.
In recognition of Dr Nair's services, the Indian government bestowed on him the coveted Padma Bhushan in 1998 and Padma Vibhushan in 2009.
He will speak to schoolchildren of all age groups at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam auditorium today.
