Blast man's death rapped

MANAMA: The death in a Jordan hospital yesterday of a Bahraini man, who was critically injured in an explosion two months ago, has been condemned. The Al Asala Islamic Society last night called for tough punishment for those responsible.

Ahmed Salim Bulaid Al Desry, 18, was with his friend Rakan Shaiham Ahmad Al Saud, 20, when the explosion happened as they tried to move burning tyres off a road in Hamad Town on April 4.

Mr Al Desry's condition was severe and he was taken to the BDF Hospital, while Mr Al Saud remained critical at Salmaniya Medical Complex.

The explosion, which happened near Roundabout 18 in Hamad Town early in the morning, left Mr Al Saud with burns to his face, neck, hands and legs.

Mr Al Desry suffered burns to his face, hands and back. He was taken to Jordan after his family complained of not receiving proper treatment at Bahrain hospital.

His uncle Mohammad Hamdan accompanied him to Jordan, where he remained in critical condition.

Mr Al Desry's body will be brought to Bahrain for burial.

The Al Asala bloc strongly condemned the terrorist act and urged authorities to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Mr Al Desry was preparing for his GCSE examinations, but terrorists put an end to his dreams, it said, calling for strict implementation of the law.

It also urged authorities to track down instigators and advocates of violence who justify killings, terrorism, setting tyres ablaze and planting of bombs.
