MORE than 1,000 people yesterday attended a special fete at the British Club to mark the diamond jubilee of Britain's Queen Elizabeth.
The event, opened by British Ambassador Iain Lindsay, also featured stalls selling a variety of goods, including food with a distinctive British theme, as well as activities and traditional games, including coconut shies.
Children also shined in a fancy dress parade, which saw them wear fashions of the past six decades.
Forty Conservatives Abroad Bahrain members also attended a dinner at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa to mark the occasion.
The event also included celebratory speeches by senior members.
