MANAMA: BBK has announced its support to the Bahrain Association of Banks' (BAB) annual Banks in Bahrain Reception at the 187-nation IMF World Bank meetings in Tokyo in October.
Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Rasheed Al Maraj and BAB chairman and BBK chief executive Abdulkarim Bucheery will head the Bahraini delegation of leading figures from the banking and finance community.
More than 500 guests of the world's senior bankers and financiers are expected to attend this prestigious reception, which will showcase Bahrain as a global financial hub in the Mena region.
BBK's general manager of its shared services group Reyadh Sater handed over a cheque for BD10,000 to BAB chief executive Robert Ainey in a special ceremony at BBK.
"BBK is always delighted to participate in this landmark event as it is held during the world's most influential international financial gathering," said Mr Sater.
"This is an important opportunity to present Bahrain to many leading decision-makers in banking and finance from all over the world," he added.
"This reception is especially timely as it will take place exactly six months after His Majesty King Hamad's visit to Japan with an accompanying delegation that aimed to foster relations between the two countries and stimulate business and educational opportunities," said Mr Ainey.
