MANAMA: A centre aimed at supporting and developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is to be established. Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) chairman Dr Essam Fakhro yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard with Family Bank chairperson Dr Fatima Al Balooshi.

Under the deal, the two sides will co-operate to set up the BCCI-SMEs Support Centre.

Dr Fakhro stressed the importance of the deal in promoting SMEs and enhancing their competitiveness.

He also underscored the vital role of the Family Bank in micro-financing crucial projects.

The centre will provide training aimed at boosting productivity of SMEs.

It will also serve as a hub to provide trade data, through an e-company guide, promote exports, explore investment opportunities and help SMEs face challenges.
