AMH sponsors peace lecture

WHETHER peace can be obtained in today's society will be discussed in a talk delivered by an international peace speaker next week. Dr Ravi Zacharias will host a talk on Is Peace Possible? The Ways of God and the Ways of Man at Al Murjan Ballroom in Movenpick Bahrain Hotel on May 31 at 7pm. The event is being sponsored by American Mission Hospital (AMH).

Dr Zacharias has spoken all over the world for 40 years and in numerous universities, notably Harvard, Princeton and Oxford.

He has addressed writers of the peace accord in South Africa, the president's cabinet and parliament in Peru, and military officers at the Lenin Military Academy and the Centre for Geopolitical Strategy in Moscow. As the 2008 Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer, he gave addresses at the White House, the Pentagon and the Cannon House.

He is presently Senior Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford University in Oxford, England.

He has also authored or edited more than 20 books including the Gold Medallion winner Can Man Live Without God and his weekly radio programme, Let My People Think, which is aired on more than 1,700 stations worldwide.

He is also the founder and president of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with offices worldwide.

"As part of our commitment to reach out to the community we have the privilege of having Dr Zacharias speak to us as part of a broad dialogue in reconciling differences to bring about peace," said AMH chief executive officer Dr George Cheriyan.

The event will also feature a musical performance by 17-year-old Young Musician of the Gulf Award winner Isa Mubarak Al Najem on the oud and cello.
