A BAHRAINI woman named among the most powerful females in the region says she had no idea she was on the list until the GDN broke the news to her yesterday.
BBK board member Elham Ebrahim Hasan has been ranked among some of the most influential names in the Arab region said despite being informed Forbes officials had been trying to contact her, she did not know what it was about.
Ms Hasan placed 33 in the Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Arab Businesswoman with seven other Bahraini women.
"My husband told me that officials from Forbes were trying to get in touch with me, but could not and finally called him," she said.
"I have been flying out of the country for several business projects. So what is my rank in the Forbes list?" she asked the GDN.
The mother of three daughters praised Bahraini women for their achievements, saying success would only come to those who work hard.
"I have always believed that women have the ability to compete and make their mark," she said.
"Bahraini women have always grabbed opportunities rather than being given to them like others in the GCC."
She also congratulated others on the list and said the recognition meant Bahraini women were progressing and they have more leadership positions.
"It's a good sign and women are more aware now."
Ms Hassan is also board member at Economic Development Board, BNP Paribas Investment Company and Solidarity Group Holding.
