A MAN allegedly kicked his 59-year-old mother in the face and then locked her in a room after she told him not to distract an Indian car cleaner.
The 31-year-old Bahraini is now standing trial for assault in the Lower Criminal Court.
His mother suffered bruising to her left eye during the alleged incident earlier this month at their home, in Isa Town.
The defendant, who is also accused of damaging TV cables in the house, appeared in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty.
"I was talking to our Indian house boy when he was cleaning our car when my mother came out of the house and started shouting at me to leave him alone to clean the car," he said.
"I just went back into the house then shortly afterwards found the police at our doorstep after my mother called them for something I did not do."
His mother described her son as a troublemaker who was rarely in a normal state, according to court files.
The trial was adjourned for a verdict on June 5.
