MOHAMMED Tawer and Rory Spicer took the honours this week in the Bahrain Roadrunners (BRR) three-km and five-km Awali road runs.

Tawer was first home in the three-km event in a time of nine minutes and 37 seconds, 13 seconds ahead of Mahmood Ali in second, with veteran Riyad Abdul Karim a further eight seconds behind in third.

Spicer meanwhile, won the five-km race in a time of 18.18 minutes and was followed across the line two minutes and 14 seconds later by Amer Ebrahim and Saqer Khalifa another 12 seconds behind.

A total of 35 athletes turned out in scorching conditions for what was the last of such events for the current BRR season.

The season will draw to a close with Sofitel Sprint Triathlon from 7am on May 18.

Registration for the event is now open through the BRR website, www.bahrainroadrunners.com, and will remain open till 6pm on May 16.

As sponsors of the event, Sofitel is offering participants a special room rate that weekend.
