BAHRAIN International Circuit's VIVA Karting Track has been lined up to play host to a series of endurance races over the coming months.

A total of six rounds of competition are scheduled to take place from this month to November, with each round featuring different race durations.

Rounds one and two for example, scheduled for May 21 and June 25, will last two hours each, while gruelling six-hour events are slated for rounds three and four on July 30 and August 13.

The series will conclude with two massive tests of endurance racing in the form of a 12-hour race on October 12 and 13, followed by a 24-hour event on November 16 and 17.

Results in each of the six meetings will count towards the international leisure karting ranking, the Sodi W Series, with the best drivers and teams from all Sodi W Series events worldwide then having the opportunity to qualify for the Sodi W Series end-of-season Grand Final.

In addition, drivers competing in the 12-hour and 24-hour events at BIC will also have their results count for the Bahrain Karting Endurance Championship's 2012/2013 season.

Racing in all six events will be held either on the track's 1.414-kilometre CIK Circuit or 1.176-kilometre Club Circuit, which are both homologated by the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

The races are open to interested teams composed of drivers aged 15 years old and above but those under 18 must have completed parental authorization forms in order to take part.

Each team must comprise a minimum of two drivers and a maximum of four for the two-hour events, while for six-hour races, a team must have a minimum of three drivers and a maximum of six.

The 12-hour and 24-hour races require a team of at least four drivers and a maximum of ten.

Each team will be provided with a Sodikart RX7/270cc for each race, with no additional technical modifications permitted.

The cost to compete in all six rounds is BD3,280 per squad but teams may also enter individual meetings at a cost of BD190 for the two-hour races, BD460 per six-hour event, BD850 for the six-hour race and BD1,600 for the 24-hour challenge.
