MORE than 750 patients in Bahrain are set to receive a colon cancer screening as part of an initiative to spread awareness about the disease.
It will consist of screening projects at five social centres in Hamad Town, Isa Town, Ibn Khuldoon International School, Jidhafs and Riffa.
Screening tests start with a free stool analysis, followed by a consultation with a gastroenterologist and a colonoscopy.
An inflatable representation of the human colon will be displayed which visitors can walk through and see the stages of development of colorectal cancer.
The American Mission Hospital launched the first camp at Hamad Town Social Centre yesterday, in the presence of senior officials from Human Rights and Social Development Ministry.
