MANAMA: Four policemen were injured, one critically, in a bomb explosion in Bani Jamra early yesterday morning.

The on-duty policemen "were dealing with saboteurs who were terrorising citizens ... and damaging public property," Public Security chief Major-General Tariq Al Hassan said.

He said the bomb that targeted the policemen was a homemade one with a remote detonator.

Flames and shrapnel from the explosion, which happened at 12.33am, covered a wide area, Maj-Gen Al Hassan said.
