AN investigation has been launched after at least five shops and a library were vandalised in Jidhafs early yesterday morning.
The seven shops vandalised yesterday are Medar, Potato King, Bu Habash Sambosa, Rehman Cafeteria and Al Zamil Caravan, while the Al Rasool Al Assdham was also targeted.
"I was unaware of what happened to my shop, but got information only when I read Twitter and a friend told me about it," said Al Zamil Caravan owner Ahmad Mirza Al Zamil.
"When I went to the shop at 6am, I saw the shutter and the door were open and the vandals also opened all the drawers to see if there was cash in them, but they were unable to find any.
"The police later cordoned off the area and an investigation is underway to find the culprits."
Meanwhile, another investigation was underway after a popular bakery and coffee shop in Riffa was raided on Monday night.
Owners of Le Bateu have filed a police complaint after the break-in, during which burglars stole money and helped themselves to some of its products.
One employee said the till was damaged and money was stolen, but the shop was open yesterday.
They forced their way in through the main entrance, damaging the door in the process.
The business is located near the same Travelex outlet in Riffa where an armed man stole BD5,000 on Sunday.
