A beloved airline

I AM hereby writing a few lines in favour of my favourite national airline Gulf Air to turn it into a successful and profitable company.

Gulf Air should branch out into a budget airline naming it Gulf Air Budget, keeping only planes of the same manufacturer, Boeing or Airbus, so that they can cut down on maintenance and spare parts.

It should emulate the other budget airlines like the newly successful Fly Dubai and the more established Air Arabia, Ryan Air and others and can learn from them. Gulf Air should trim their costs, overheads and other expenses.

Gulf Air has to take some hard decisions and revolutionise its operations and bring back the old days of its glory. Gulf Air inactions, slow change, rigid attitudes, pampered staff and bloated expenses have all contributed to its loss. Because of all these other airlines increased their market share and profits.

Gulf Air, you too can give them competition with your economical/lower fares. Please, please, do not let this airline die. Safoora Firdous
